As with so many things in life, we gain comfort in knowing that we are not alone when we try new things. There is security in numbers, a truism that has particular currency in the business world. Reference points can be critical in many kinds of decision-making.
In the world of serious games and simulations, corporate adoption seems to be following the familiar path. When somebody else has already done "it" and there are data to refer to, the likelihood of getting a serious game project approved increases dramatically. But where to find such data?
I'm happy to announce a new section to this website: Case Studies. The first entry in this section was published in the new Immersive Learning Simulations Research Report from the eLearning Guild. Entitled, "Using a Virtual Incident Management Training System for Transportation First Responders," looks at a simulation environment (using Forterra's OLIVE platform as a foundation) for all emergency personnel involved in traffic management and incidence response along the I-95 corridor, which runs the length of the eastern seaboard of the US.
We will be adding to this section significantly over the upcoming months. If you have a serious game or simulation implementation that you would like to offer as a case study, please let us know.
I'm serious,
Anne
